2nd Annual Table Tennis Tournament a Success!

On September 25, we held our 2nd annual table tennis tournament. Organized by one of our table tennis pros, Chris Xu, the turnout was even bigger than last year! Both members and non-members battled it out on the court with four people in each division taking it home.

Under the SINGLES category:

First Place: Nancy Tang
Second Place: Steve Wang
Third Place: Laurent Goldstein
Third Place: Lily Chen

Under the MIXED DOUBLES category:

First Place: Lily Chen & Sonny Laphiasakova
Second Place: Joe Kay & Sharlene Chen
Third Place: Edward Xu & Isabel Chang
Third Place: Steve Wang & Nancy Tang

Congratulations to our winners and all those who participated in our tournament. Following the tournament was a delicious banquet upstairs in the River Club lounge. Thanks to the tournament organizers and staff who helped create this successful event. See you next year!

Annual River Club Golf Tournament

The Club is hosting its annual golf tournment at the Mylora Golf Course at Sidaway. This year, it is taking place on Saturday July 23, 2011 with tee off starting at 9:20am. Make up your team of four, and register at the Front Desk. Sign-up deadline is Saturday July 16.

The cost this year is $65 per player and includes your round of golf, a delicious BBQ dinner and plenty of prizes back at the River Club.

“Let’s Squash Leukemia” Squash Tournament

The Let’s Squash Leukemia was a great success! Thank you to everyone who came out to support a tournament that supports the Michael Cuccione Foundation, an organization that raises funds for childhood cancer research.

Congratulations to Nick Rodusek (winner of Men’s Div A), Alexandra Toth (winner of Women’s Div A), Andrea Toth (winner of Women’s Div C/D), Yuliy Ilan (winner of Men’s Div B), Andy Leighton (winner of Men’s Div C), and ALL the athletes who competed in the tournament this past week.

Thanks to Viktor Berg, Melanie Jans, and Justin Todd for making a special appearance to support such a worthwhile cause.
